JumpStart - Screen Addiction
Thursday Jul 25, 2019
Thursday Jul 25, 2019
Here are some stats that will blow you away:
The average American spends a whopping eleven hours every day staring at screens.
When they are NOT looking at screens, most people receive 80+ daily notifications trying to draw them BACK to a screen.
Our lives are becoming virtual — and that’s NOT a good thing.
Today, let’s look at how screen addiction is wrecking our lives and what we can do to diminish its effects.
(And yes — I get the irony of me using a screen to write this and you using a screen to watch it.)

JumpStart - Believe in Yourself
Thursday Jul 25, 2019
Thursday Jul 25, 2019
Most personal development programs come down to “Believe in yourself.”
And, they miss a significant point: belief in ourselves is something we all already do.
Often, with less than optimal results.
The word belief means “something you have decided is true.”
Belief is nothing more than an opinion — take that in, and opinions can (and often should) be changed!
Today, let’s explore what you’ve “decided is true” about yourself and how we can expand that belief to encompass the life you desire.

JumpStart- Overcoming Disappointment

Two nights ago I had the worst experience of my professional speaking career.
When I got back to my hotel I was demoralized — even depressed.
So, then what, right?
In this JumpStart I share a very real (and painful experience) and how I got passed it.
We all experience difficult experiences and we can choose to let them define us; or, we can let them REFINE us into someone new and better.
How about you?
What challenges are you facing?
Your process for handling them will determine what shows up for you in the future.

JumpStart- Water
Thursday Jul 25, 2019
Thursday Jul 25, 2019
The earth is 72% water.
Our bodies are 72% water.
To be healthy, our diets should be 72% water and yet most people exist on processed (waterless) foods.
There are little things you can do today that you’ll barely notice that will get more water-based food in your diet and bring your health into alignment.

JumpStart- Your Celebrity
Thursday Jul 25, 2019
Thursday Jul 25, 2019
One day I was at the gym and everyone around me was in a total swoon.
No, unfortunately, the were NOT swooning over me.
Baseball great Albert Pujos was on the treadmill next to me and, actually, honestly not everyone was in a swoon.
Not being a sports fan, I’d never heard of Pujos and so he was just “some guy” to me.
You know, in reality, ALL celebrities are just “some guy” or “some gal,” which also means that anyone is a potential celebrity — someone worthy of celebrating.
You are a celebrity to your friends, family, and others so today let’s honor the celebrity that is YOU!

JumpStart - An Unstoppable Force
Saturday Jul 20, 2019
Saturday Jul 20, 2019
My first job out of college was as a radio advertising salesperson.
I’d call on local businesses, develop a a radio marketing plan for them and then present my ideas with an invitation to “give it a try."
More often than not, their response would be, “No” and I would shrug my shoulders, thank the prospect for their time, and leave.
Needless to say, I wasn’t very successful.
Until I read a book that told me most people have to say “no” six times before they will get to a, “yes.”
Once I discovered this, I began to persevere simply asking “why not give it a try?” over and it over and it paid off BIG making me the top sales person at the radio station.
In today’s JumpStart, I share a recent experience that showed me, once again, the power of being an Unstoppable Force in the face of something very challenging.

JumpStart- Winning
Saturday Jul 20, 2019
Saturday Jul 20, 2019
It’s not that most people fail to win — it’s that most people WANT TO WIN but fail to play the game.
My daughter’s best friend — a HUGE football fan heard about contest to win a big-name NFL football player at your wedding.
Most people would have considered the odds of winning too outlandish and not even have entered.
But, she entered and she won and Kansas City Chief Travis Kelce was at her wedding looming LARGE in all the photos!
PLUS, the NFL sent multiple camera teams to record the event so Lia’s friend got the world’s greatest wedding videos!
What good things are letting pass you by because you’re simply not going for them?
Today, let’s talk about winning and its most basic component — competing in the first place.

JumpStart- “N-O”
Saturday Jul 20, 2019
Saturday Jul 20, 2019
In yesterday’s JumpStart I shared with you the importance of continuing on even when with others telling you, “no.”
Today, I’m going to flip this and talk about the importance of sticking to your own, “No.”
(To quote Heath Ledger as the Joker in the movie “The Dark Knight,” “This is what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object.”)
Sometimes, we need to be the unstoppable force.
Other times, we need to be the immovable object.
Today, let’s talk about solidifying your “No” so that you become a victor, rather than a victim, in business and in life.

JumpStart- Other People’s Baggage
Saturday Jul 20, 2019
Saturday Jul 20, 2019
Everyone has a past and, for most of us, that past includes life-changing pain and sorrow.
Like dents in a new car, these experiences can change us forever making it harder to connect with others in love and harmony.
We know about our own past challenges and their impact on who we are but we often forget to take into account the weight of the baggage others carry.
Today, let’s be compassionate to the scratches and dents past struggles have left on those around us and, in the process, practice compassion and open pathways to deeper connection and understanding.

JumpStart- Exercise
Saturday Jul 20, 2019
Saturday Jul 20, 2019
Exercise improves the body but when it comes to exercising most people are caught up in their heads.
In today’s JumpStart, we walk along the Xungpu River in Shanghai and discover some of the unique exercise habits of some early-risers.
And, we take a look at how we can get all the exercise we need without all the machines, treadmills, stair masters and even classes.
Hint: put on some music and start moving your hips.
