Most great spiritual masters teach mindfulness as a practice.
Unfortunately, when people hear the term “mindful“, they tend to think “Sorry, my mind is already full!“
Most of our thoughts are controlled by our ego and our ego focuses only on the past and the future.
Since neither the past nor the future are real, our minds are not full – – they are empty because what is in them does not exist.
Through meditation we can develop mindfulness and become happier, healthier, more peaceful, and more successful.
In today’s JumpStart, I’m going to teach you some new techniques to develop mindfulness so that you can begin to celebrate and enjoy what is rather than regret what was or fear of what might be.

Imagine you feel sad.
Where would you feel sadness in your body and what would that sensation be like?
If I asked you to feel even more sad, could you?
Of course you could.
Now, imagine I asked you if you could feel happier than you already do, could you do that?
Believe it or not, the answer is yes and you would follow much of the same procedure but for some reason we don’t tend to do that.
In this JumpStart, I’m going to inspire you to cultivate happiness in your life rather than sadness and show you the steps necessary to make that happen.

We begin to take things for granted over time because of a scientific phenomenon called “Hedonic Adaptation.”
Hedonic - having to do with the senses
Adaptation - become accustomed to
So, our senses literally become accustomed to stuff over time
On the positive side, this helps us adapt to negative circumstances but it can also cause us to no longer appreciate what’s important to us.
To overcome hedonic adaptation we can employ another scientific phenomenon called Behavioral Economics.
