Have you noticed this about heroes?
They don’t do a lot of complaining.
When something goes wrong--as it always must--a hero accepts what has happened and, more importantly, accepts responsibility for fixing the problem.
We could learn a lot from our movie, literary, and even religious heroes when it comes to complaining vs taking responsibility.
When you take responsibility, you become “able to respond.”
That’s what makes you a hero.
So, put on your cape and let’s find that superhero inside of you.

JumpStart - Your Inner Velociraptor

From the time you could walk, you have been enclosed.
You were enclosed in a playpen, a home, a neighborhood, a schoolroom.
And nowhere have you been more enclosed than in your own mind.
In your mind, you have created fences around what you “can” and “cannot” do.
Today, imagine those self-imposed barriers to be like the fences in Jurassic Park.
You are a velociraptor.
You don’t accept those barriers.
You lunge at them and test them -- looking for a weak spot.
Today, let’s play velociraptor and see if we can find a hole in your self-limiting fences.

For most people, saying “I don’t know how… I don’t know how… I don’t know how…” is a closed loop that keeps them stuck.
Whenever you need to do something and you don’t know how, there’s a very simple process:
1. Google it
2. Get started
3. Don’t stop
If you’re struggling, it’s because you’re not doing one of these three things.
There’s an old saying, “Not every problem that is addressed can become solved. However, no problem can be resolved until it is addressed.“
In modern terminology, “Google it and Get On it!”
Break out of your “I don’t know how” loop and change your life.

Sunday Jun 16, 2019
Having been on both sides of selling and buying many products and services over the years, I’ve noticed a common mistake business people make that limits their success.
And because this mistake is so prevalent, if you begin to correct it you will receive a disproportionate amount of market share.
In other words, you will make a lot more money!
Today, let me share this mistake and how to correct it.

The other day I was sitting on our deck, and I could hear our neighbors on either side enjoying the beautiful weather on their decks as well.
In my mind I thought, “I love our neighbors.“
Now, some of you may know that has not always been the case.
In fact, we had very problematic neighbors against whom we actually had to get a restraining order.
During the time that we were struggling with the neighbors, I wrote down hundreds of times, “We love our neighbors.“
Even though that was not my reality at the time, I was claiming it as a present-day truth.
Today, let’s challenge that belief that “bad things are here to stay” so we can focus our creative energy on making things better.

Have you ever wondered why it’s not healthy to envy other people?
Envy sends out a vibration into the universe that YOU’RE not OK, that YOU’RE not enough, causing you to receive less and enjoy what you do receive even less.
Being generous is not just about giving things away, it’s about being generous in our mind knowing that as we celebrate the successes of others we celebrate our own accomplishments because there is only one human spirit.
Today, let’s talk about being generous in our minds so the universe will be generous to us.

JumpStart - Feeling Like It

I’ve noticed a common difference between people who succeed compared to those who do not.
Unsuccessful people are invariably waiting to feel like doing what it is they know they should do.
Unsuccessful people wait until they feel like exercising to exercise, feel like dieting before they diet, feel like meditating before they meditate -- you get the point.
Successful people know that all positive change requires active struggle and as a result, you’re never going to “feel like doing“ anything that’s good for you.
Nike has the answer -- “Just do it.”
Today, we’ll talk about how we get ourselves to do what’s good for us.

Hedonic Adaptation explains so many things.
Hedonic Adaptation may also explain why you struggle with being pessimistic.
Hedonic Adaptation, you’ll remember, is a human being’s propensity to adapt to ongoing experiences.
The best example is how the first bite of pizza always tastes better than the last.
You adapt, and so each bite tastes a little less yummy so that you don’t eat unhealthy amounts.
But Hedonic adaptation can ALSO explain pessimism.
In truth, bad things rarely happen as compared to good things.
As a result, we notice the bad things more and give them greater significance in our minds.
As a result, we tend to think that an unending slew of bad things is inevitable.
Today, let’s talk about flipping Hedonic Adaptation on its head by being grateful throughout the day.

The other day as I walked into the gym I looked around and noticed the people who were there.
Over the next hour as I did my exercise, I noticed many of them leaving and others showing up.
What really caught my attention is that between the people who are in good shape as compared to those who are in great shape is only a little difference.
The people who are in great shape tend to spend about 20% longer in the gym and they move about 20% faster between exercises.
They don’t waste time and add just a bit more time, but those differences make ALL the difference.
Today, let’s explore that extra 20% and how you can apply it to relationships, work, career, health, finances, and EVERY area of your life.

I was recently listening to a podcast about Genghis Khan, and I learned some amazing things.
Not a nice guy, ol’ Genghis, but he still offered some suggestions on how we can live and work better.
For example, what do you think Genghis Khan did to an enemy soldier who shot his horse out from under him?
The answer will surprise you and give a tip for making life a little better every day.
