JumpStart - New Beginnings

JumpStart - New Beginnings

July 6, 2020

When I was a kid, my mom gave me a little unfinished statue of a boy and on the base was carved, “Be patient, God isn’t finished with me yet.”

To this day, I think of that statue and the unfinished nature of our lives.

Life is always evolving and because life is evolving we can choose new beginnings at any time.

Where do you wish you could start over?

Now, HOW can you begin to start over? (good question)

You have the capacity to begin again and enjoy a new outcome.

JumpStart - The Price of Freedom

JumpStart - The Price of Freedom

July 3, 2020

Bishop Desmond Tutu was said, “Eternal vigilance is the price of freedom” and truer words were never spoken.

Once we have something so precious as freedom, it takes each of us keeping watch over her such that she is healthy and shelters us all.

Now more than ever, we vote with our actions so choose to be a modern day patriot -- someone who guards what is good for EVERYONE in our society.

Today, let’s give thanks for freedom and own our part in keeping ourselves and others free.

JumpStart - Gunnysacking

JumpStart - Gunnysacking

July 1, 2020

Ever had someone just explode their wrath upon you?

I remember once having my skin verbally flayed from my body by a coworker who had, up until that point, never spoken to me above a well-modulated tone.

People typically blow up when they’ve done what’s called “gunnysacking” (not addressing problems while feeling the weight of their resentment.)

Then, suddenly the bag gets upended and dumped on your head in hurtful words and angry tones.

If we can improve communication with our friends, family, and coworkers, we can avoid gunnysacking and, instead, handle things as they come along and before they become a crushing weight.

It all starts with neutral information delivered with neutral energy.

Learn how you can do this starting today.

JumpStart - The Courage to Be Happy

JumpStart - The Courage to Be Happy

June 30, 2020

19th century author and journalist Holbrook Jackson once wrote, “Happiness is a form of courage.”

Doing a quick definition check I find that courage means “the ability to do something that frightens one.”

Especially now, the “thing that frightens” us more than anything is LIFE, am I right?

So, it’s harder now than ever to be happy; but that’s what courage is.

As the author of 2 books on happiness, I’m going to share with you a handful of proven tips you can do to increase your happiness level.

JumpStart - The Greater Nerd Theory

JumpStart - The Greater Nerd Theory

June 29, 2020

“How do I…”

Those are the 3 most common words searched on the internet and today there is almost NOTHING you can’t learn to do by exploring the worldwide web.

In this video, I want to invite you to learn something new -- anything, from making homemade pizza to replacing the inside of a toilet. That is, presuming either of those are something you want to learn.

The key is to pick something YOU want to learn how to do and then, dive into Google, Bing, Firefox, (whatever your browser) and you’re going to be amazed at the people who have already mastered what you seek to learn.

I call them (and myself) “nerds” and we’re always here to help.

Discover how the “greater nerd theory” can help you learn to do anything AND realize that you, too, are a vital part of the Greater Nerd hierarchy.

JumpStart - Suffering

JumpStart - Suffering

June 26, 2020

Siddhartha Gautama, also known as the Buddha said, “Life is suffering” and this has become a basic tenet of those who follow him.

“Life is suffering,” kind of a negative perspective, right?

Let’s explore the liberating truth behind this quote from the Buddha and, more importantly, how we can experience the pain of life, let it go, and minimize suffering.

It all comes down to what we ruminate over so join me and we’ll unpack what a cow’s stomach and your mind have in common and how to suffer less starting now.

JumpStart - Your Mutation

JumpStart - Your Mutation

June 24, 2020

6 months ago, I was feeling lonely and isolated living in a community where less than 10% of owners are full-time residents so I downloaded a dating app to my phone.

I was really nervous and uncertain but I began to open the app and view images and read the bios of women in the age range and lifestyle group I was looking for.

I wasn’t really taking the whole thing very seriously -- certainly not looking to fall in love, so I added another app, and then another, and another….

What I noticed is that most of the women said they were looking for a man with a “good sense of humor” but little do they know…

Being funny is a great attribute but it is also often spawned from having an abusive and/or neglectful childhood.

Humor is a defense mechanism that hides very real wounds.

We all have such mutations -- superpowers that also have a dark side.

Today, let’s stop focussing on the side-effects of your own mutation and begin to celebrate your superpower.

JumpStart - No There, There

JumpStart - No There, There

June 23, 2020

When you apply for a job you hand (or more likely email) your prospective employer a recap of all your business accomplishments making sure that everything you did is presented in the best light.

This is natural -- it’s just putting your best foot forward.

If you, like most people, struggle with worry or anxiety then I invite you to create a very different kind of resume -- a listing of every BAD thing that’s happened to you.

Then--and this is critical, write out how you handled (or are handling) the major problem.

Writing out your own Life Challenge Resume reminds you of just how powerful, capable, supported, and resourceful you are because you’ve already faced, handled, and moved past things you thought were impossible.

And with that knowledge you realize that there’s really nothing to worry about.

Because whatever shows up, you got it!
