It’s important to recognize and celebrate our accomplishments.
However, excessive pride is not helpful and it actually limits our happiness and success.
Pride is an inner feeling of an external act that we discussed in the previous JumpStart — boasting.
Excessive pride is actually a mark of emptiness.
The overly proud person takes too much credit because he or she feels unimportant, unrecognized, and not celebrated enough.
Their pride negates the important contributions of others upon whose shoulders we are fortunate enough to stand.
There is a difference between having pride and being prideful.
And in this video, you’ll learn how to let pride go so you can feel the great universal oneness that is the foundation of everything.

- Boasting is always a mark of insecurity and yet people boast all too frequently.
Ironically, they think that boasting will diminish insecurity whereas it actually increases it!
When we inflate ourselves through boasting we are sending out the message that who we are is lacking.
We’re not enough.
We’re not good enough, smart enough, attractive enough, successful enough.
We are simply NOT enough.
Boasting does not enhance our position in people’s minds — it diminishes their opinions because people can read a phony a mile away.
Boasting also limits our view of ourselves because lying to inflate our status conveys that our current status is sub-par.
The first step to becoming what you want is to accept where and who you are.
Humility is power.
Humility is love.

We just got a new puppy.
His name is Teddy and he’s a mini labradoodle (looks like a Teddy Bear).
It’s been a long time since I’ve had a puppy and what amazes me about Teddy is his endless energy!
He has two modes: PLAY and SLEEP.
And when he’s in PLAY mode, he’s hyper!
Teddy’s favorite toy is a little lion that has a bushy red mane and lots of imbedded squeakers.
Interestingly, if Teddy’s lion is just lying on the floor, he ignores it.
BUT, if I’m tugging on the other end of the toy it drives him crazy and he has to have it!
He wants it because I have it and for no other reason.
That’s envy and that’s what this video is about.
Envy blocks the energy of love making us less loving toward others and, worst of all, unloving to ourselves!
Learn to let envy slide so you can be more loving and enjoy your life more.

You’ve heard “Love is patient, love is kind, …. etc” many, many times.
But have you ever noticed how carefully Paul words this beautiful piece of literature?
He doesn’t say, “Be kind and you’ll be more loving.”
Or even “If you want to be loving, treat everyone kindly.”
No. He says that love IS kind.
Kindness and love are not only inseparable—THEY ARE THE SAME THING!
You can’t be unkind and be loving, it’s as simple as that.
Develop kindness and you develop love.
Develop love and you grow in happiness and influence.

- Benjamin Franklin said, “He who has patience can have what he will.”
How perfect that I’m in Philadelphia—Ben’s hometown, for this JumpStart.
Often, the most important ingredient in the recipe to getting and having what we want is patience.
Patience isn’t just waiting…it’s waiting with a smile on your face.
Learning to master patience is the first demonstration of love because we must be patient to be loving.
Everyone is growing —ourselves included, and the person we are today will be surpassed by the person we will be tomorrow.
Discover the power of harnessing patience in this video so that you can “have what you will.”

Have you noticed that some people love to play the "martyr card?"
They suffer either as a way of getting attention for themselves or as a way of declaring moral superiority over others.
The victim trap keeps us from being all the at we can be.
And, more importantly, playing the suffering hero is NOT loving either for ourselves or for others.
Learn how to break the martyr mindset and liberate yourself to live (and to love) fully and completely.

It's not what you look like.
It's not what you have.
It's not where you've been or where you going.
It's not even about what you've accomplished.
It's about how loving you are.
No matter what you become or achieve, if you are not a loving person you're really, well -- nothing.
We often measure our significance based on what magazines, television and social media tell us is important. "If I look that way, or achieve like him/her, then I'm of profound value."
Even in ancient times, there were ideals to which people aspired as a means of making themselves look great to others.
However, if we have everything we could ever want and achieve everything we desire, without love it's as if we never existed because love is the foundation of who we are.
Learn how to tap into that loving energy that is you in this video.

Do you know someone who speaks 'ever-so-sweetly' and yet you know that deep within this person is actually filled with anger?
Part of love is speaking our truth -- being our genuine selves, and not a mere reflection of what we think a "loving," or "spiritual" person should sound like.
How can we be genuine and at the same time be loving?
It is possible.
Find out how in this video.

Probably one of the most well-known pieces of literature in the world is 1 Corinthian’s 13 from the Christian Bible.
If you’ve been to a wedding, you have heard at least part of this beautiful and transformative passage from the Bible.
“Love is patient..., etc.”
I wrote this entire chapter down every single day for over a year, because I wanted to develop the capacity of love.
As we kick off our JumpStarts once again, I’m going to share with you insights to heal and transform your life using this beautiful piece of poetry as our guide.
Remember to leave questions and comments because I answer them all personally.
